In the late fifties no one had ever seen such a handsome monster before. Tu-tone pink, a smokey light and a dusty medium. You would think it ought to be tame and relaxed as a boulevard cruiser. No way. This '59 top-of-the-line Custom Royal Lancer 2drHT came factory equipped with the new-for-59 383 c.i. engine with dual 4V carburetors. Dual exhaust. No AC. Power steering. Power brakes. And a swivel-out driver's seat. VERY HOT STUFF!

Most lead-foot thinkers of the day ordered solid black or solid red cars. This one has an off- white vinyl and black/silver metallic cloth upholstery. The story goes that when the original Kansas City, KS owner ordered this muscle car he had to let his wife make the color choices or he could continue driving his dove gray '52 Desoto family car with its blackwall tires. Looks like he gave in.
